Hymn & Her (2023)

‘Hymn & Her’ is a musical short film brought to you by a team of young filmmakers at the University of Portsmouth and Adam Nightingale. Adam was approached by the students at the University of Portsmouth and asked to help them achieve their desired grades by writing and directing an original movie-musical for their third-year graduation project.

‘Hymn & Her’ tells the story of Elle, a young woman who must come to terms with the loss of her best friend Lily and find the courage to deliver her speech at the funeral with the help of Lily’s grieving boyfriend, Jeremy.

Elle and Jeremy have very different techniques when it comes to coping with grief and loss. Over the course of the film the pair must try to find a way to set aside their differences and work together to toil through their emotions in regard to Lily’s passing.
